On Saturday, April 9, 2016, the Fulbright Foundation Greece organized a spring Train the Trainers Meeting on the occasion of Dr. Claire E. Hughes' visit to Greece. Dr. Claire E. Hughes is a US Fulbright Scholar, Associate Professor at the College of Coastal Georgia, Department of Education and Teacher Preparation who will spend three months at the University of Patras in collaboration with Dr. Ioannis Dimakos, an international expert in writing strategies, focusing on approaches for teachers who wish to help their students plan and persist in difficult writing tasks, particularly among children from varied cultural backgrounds and in special education. The teaching aspect of her grant includes seminars in the areas of strategic instruction, special education and talent development.
Second special guest during the meeting was Dr. Maria Letsiou, Adjunct Assistant Professor in the field of Art Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts, School of Visual and Applied Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki who received a Fulbright grant as Greek Visiting Scholar to conduct research on ‘Learning through Video Art Production’ at the School of Art and Design, College of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Wishing to sound a positive note during difficult time, the workshops were dedicated to talent development, growth mindset, motivation, and creativity in the classroom, subjects that may help teachers prepare their students to face a new world defined by globalization, digital revolution, environmental issues and sustainability, migration and interdisciplinarity.
