During the month of October 2013, Catherine Rogers, Fulbright Senior Specialist, collaborated with the Dr Tatiani Rapatzikou, 2009-2010 Fulbright Visiting Scholar, School of English , Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and Professor Liana Sakelliou, School of English, University of Athens, to develop a syllabus for the new creative writing course "Understanding Illness and Trauma Experience through Narrative" introducing the methods and techniques of Narrative Medicine as developed and practiced by Dr. Rita Charon MD, PhD at Columbia University, New York. During her lectures, Rogers explained that in the practice of Narrative Medicine doctors and health care workers work side by side with artists, writers, and humanities scholars to examine stories, how they are told, and “the power of narrative to change the way care is given and received.”
