2023-2024 FULBRIGHT FOREIGN STUDENT PROGRAM:
VISITING RESEARCH STUDENTS &
IKY-FULBRIGHT PARTNERSHIP AWARDS FOR RESEARCH STUDENTS

Biomedical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland
Hematology, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland

The Fulbright experience is much more than a scholarship! This six-month period has been a landmark for our growth both as researchers and personalities. At the Johns Hopkins University we had the chance to learn cutting-edge technologies in a full of mentorship environment and embrace more translational aspects of our research. Thinking out of the box in order to find answers to research questions, as well as evaluating and presenting our results, are some of the skills we developed during this time.

We are thankful to have been welcomed by the Greek community in Baltimore, as well as foreign colleagues and friends. Meeting people from all over the world has broadened our understanding of different cultures and bonds we have created with other Fulbrighters, sharing our dreams and challenges, are going to accompany us in our future steps.

Staying together in Baltimore, we feel we have created a long-lasting friendship based on respect and shared experiences and values. Our trips around U.S. were full of fun, creativity and laughter. Having “Joe’s pizza” for breakfast, walking with a sunset view of the Brooklyn bridge, making videos of our experiences and visiting beautiful museums are some of the highlights of our trip to New York.

Coming back home, we are ready to pave our own path with an enriched mindset and vision.

Thank you, Fulbright Greece,

Maria & Theodora
